Yesterday morning the two older
Blandings boys had orthodontist appointments. (Are we going to have to hear about her errands all summer?" Well, maybe.) As is usually the case, I ran into a good friend and got to catch up while my two were being evaluated and hers was being fitted for a new retainer. Broken. Ouch.

After she left and before I was called back to see what sort of damage genetics had
wreaked, and what sort of residual damage that would cause to my checkbook, I had a chance to flip through O Home.

I didn't get far before I stumbled on these lanterns from
Juliska. I have liked their glassware from the get-go, though thought they suffered from a bit of over-exposure for a while.

But these are dreamy. I like them individually, but they seem to want to group, no?

The round sea urchin looking one would be great fun at the beach either in a dressing room or a few over the kitchen island.

I love the starkness of the clear glass with the detail of the embellishments. And no detail has been lost on the function; the bulbs are brilliant.

As was my mother who always said, "You should be an
orthodontist. They work 3 1/2 days a week, get paid up front - and how many orthodontic emergencies can there be?" She knew as she had shuttled me and my sister back and forth through inherited cross bites and common crookednes
s. Thank goodness that light bulb did not go off. To think I almost missed the fame and fortune of being a former grade school auction chair.
I'm so glad that are not an orthodontist, although you probably would have had an entertaining braces blog (not to mention a stunning office). :)
ReplyDeleteAm loving this clear glass business. So elegant.
I like your idea of grouping. And, btw, I think your claim to fame is now much bigger than auction chair :)
ReplyDeletesgm - thanks for the vote of confidence - the boys' orthodontist has a putting green in his office. I'm sure they think I couldn't do better than that.
ReplyDeleteCourtney - I was just in Dallas with my family - all of whom claim to read my blog - you should have seen how surprised they were when Bill was telling a story about painting the house yellow. If you can't get your own family to read your blog.....
ReplyDeleteNo doubt your walls would be covered in something to smile and blog about.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize they now have a lighting line. Those are really cool!
ReplyDeleteI can just see a whole group of these over a dining room table. and like Maison 21 says, on a dimmer.
ReplyDeleteYour family doesn't know what they are missing!!!!!!! You have advanced to blog greatness.
ReplyDeleteanon - you are making me blush!
ReplyDeletethose fixtures are great... and sharing about your "taxi service" gives me a feeling of peace and belonging, knowing I'm not alone ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous. I'm so tired of their goblets and drinking glasses, but these are pretty divine.
ReplyDeleteAesthete - my thoughts on this exactly.
ReplyDeleteYES, a group of these would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteThese are so chic. Yes, a grouping would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI thought you might volunteer to chair for a second year - multi tasking can keep a brain sharp (or just push you over the edge). Choosing the Madrid seemed like a stroke of genious and I'd love to see what you would have pulled off after your first year.
ReplyDeleteThese lanterns are beautiful. The first one and last one are calling to me, although I no idea where either would want to live in our house.
