Junkie

If you are a true color junkie, with a bit of time on your hands, tick here.  X-rite has a test to evaluate your ability to distinguish shades of color.  I found it at the helix website; they are one of our top architectural firms in town.

I got a 58.

I did this several weeks ago and got a PERFECT SCORE! yes, I will be on Oprah next week.

I couldn't figure out how you could possibly have received a 58 on something so simple. I thought this was so easy and was sure that most of mine would be correct.

I got a 29.

Guess that is why the gray walls I've acticipated in my house for months are looking a little purple in places.

Joke is on me.

That was fascinating. I got a 3. I'm not an interior designer, but I used to be a paint contractor.

Anon - I am truly filled with wonder. You should be on Oprah!

Jessica - if it's any consolation, I still don't know where I went wrong - I thought I had done it perfectly. I might have to sneak back and try again.

Matriarchy - blame it on your screen - I did.

What a fun test! By pure dumb luck I got an 8. I wish it were just that easy to click and drag colors on the walls!

Oh I must do this with my husband. We are constantly having disagreements over color. Hopefully I'll beat him.

For some reason some colors were harder than others. I got a 7 which I think is pretty good. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I'm going to post it on my blog as well, it's so fun!

It's the glare, I promise. I'm going to try again.

I just got a 24 - I am really blaming it on my screen the first time.

Like anon I too got a perfect score. Judging from the average score for 30-39 year old men I may too be Oprah bound.

I got a 4 and I am in the 50-59 bracket. At least something gets better with age!

Fun test! I got a 4. I knew I was having some trouble on that last line but I was getting kind of bug-eyed by that point! I really really love color. Thanks!

I read your blog everyday. Love it, but have never commented. So, hello Mrs. B. I just left KC for Chicago but share your love for my old hometown. Anyhoo.. I scored a 7. Could it be my fascination with paint chips and color wheels? I don't know but I'll take it! Cheers!

Perfect score here. which is only due to having memorized the Farrow and Ball color deck over the last year with this never ending house renovation!

cool test. I got a 3. I am a color god.

I got a 4. I'm pretty proud.

Oh, for joy. I got a 4 and am also in the 50-59 range. Does that score qualify me for a new career? Maybe for a few years until my eyesight gives out? And Mrs. B, did you perhaps read the instructions wrong?

I am 47 and got a zero on the test, but then people have always said I am really particular about color.

Well, that looks like fun. I'll have to check it out. Thanks! :-)

I had so much fun, I sent this to all my designer friends and they all got good scores. My excuses for getting a 12 are: did it first thing this morning BEFORE my coffee, I've needed new glasses for two years (now I am making my appointment!)and I am also in that over 50 range! I've been designing textiles for years and I really should have done better! I'll try it again with my new glasses (my puppy is old enough - she won't scratch and mangle them now.

I thought this was interesting:

15-year-old daughter: 8 (artist)
34-yo husband: 56 (not artist)
47-yo me: 3 (former paint contractor)

I just scored a perfect 0 in the female 30 - 39 category. So why the heck can't I pick a frickin color to paint my house?!? My hubby is tired of repainting because I don't like the way anything looks! I have zero design experience and I love all things artistic but I wouldn't say I'm artistic. AARGH! A 98 would have made more sense.
