I really needed this post as the cabinet builders are coming out to measure my kitchen this morning (oh 45 minutes and I am still playing around online).
But I wanted to do black painted cabinets and this I think is a sign and a great inspiration to show them this morning. I like the traditional-shaker lines of the cabinets but with the dark color. If you only you KNEW how small my kitchen actually was! I cook all of the time and I dream of a REAL kitchen in my next place and outdoor space too (I think that I could really be ok with giving in to only 1 bathroom and no fireplace for a large beautiful kitchen and a nice little terrace).

That Roast Chicken book is really fabulous. And roast chicken has got to be my number one favorite Sunday dinner!
Love your kitchen! I too have black cabinets and always receive many compliments from guests that visit. I really like the subway tile you did by the cooktop - like play off of the dark.
