Hunting for something else entirely (another chair, naturally) I ran across this. Italian, original needlework, courtesy of Bunny Williams in An Affair with a House, which is one of the best house book names ever.

I love that book -- and although she may have "an affair with a house" -- I have an affair with Linderhof.
I was just looking at this book today (again) and could not believe when I saw this picture on your post -- I didn't even have to read to know it was from that book (no, I don't have it memorized).
As far as chair -- I found a wonderful one up in the city yesterday -- it's my post for yesterday -- a Belgian needlepoint with some age. ALMOST as good as Bunny's!

Martha - it's so beautiful - where did you find it? It's not ringing a bell.
The chair is exquisite, but so is the pillow you can see peeking out above the desk - and the lamb bookends - just perfect. I can't believe that I just wrote that lamb bookends are perfect for anything other than a nursery (and even then....), but they are somehow just right.
Anyway, how fortunate am I? Ms. Williams is coming to my city in early June for her Beeline Collection and I will have a chance to meet her. Should be great fun.
I, too, love this book and its title and the stories behind the things she loves. Chairs are addictive: art and architecture in one comfy piece. Gird yourself girl. It's going to be a rainy week. A new chair might be what is needed so spirits aren't too dampened.
A favorite Book of mine. Love Bunny's work. Needlepoint is so special and many of the designs so intricate.

A completely charming and wonderful book! It is one of my "desert isle books" -- for the recipes, the stories and (of course!) the photographs!

Bunny Williams is amazing. Where does she get so much energy? And I always love to read her books, not just look at them.
I have a technical question. I see so many blogs, that I love to read, posting materials that have copyrights -- books, magazines, photos -- how does that work? Just curious.
Susan - a few bloggers who I know have done some research on the subject and it seems to be ok. Most are posting the images in a positive light, so it is usually to the advantage of the designer/owner/photographer. I try to credit as much as I can here. If someone asked me to pull an image I probably would. I do know a few folks who have been served cease and desist orders.

In this new digital age things are changing so fast it's hard to catch up. And with digits there is always the possibility of unwelcome use of one's work.
I would think the originators would be pleased, at least I hope so.
