All I ever really wanted to do was read Dominique Browning and Mayer Rus anyway, and as they have both gone on line I should probably hang up the whole thing.I may reconsider, but in the meantime go catch up on Browning's posts; she's just getting started and it's a wonderful read. After a career in PR in small offices when often I did everything, that you do this for free is amazing. I don't have a blog because it reminds me of too much of work. But you do have my gratitude for doing what you do with great style. I found Slow Love Life through the NYT and thought it is fascinating affects of this economy. Some are gifts of the spirit.

No! I hope we're all jumping to the wrong conclusion! I'm a longtime lurker who loves receiving your posts by email every morning. You are such a prolific poster--if you cut back and posted only every once in a while, even that would be atreat for me. (So, you know, "do it for me, a stranger"--I guess that's the not very compelling upshot of this comment! But I'm sure I'm not alone.)

I'm just glad I've been away from the computer--painting--for the last two days, because if I had seen this post before you added that disclaimer at the end, I would have freaked. Seriously.
Slowing down the pace a bit we can deal with, as I've told AAL & EEE, and going on hiatus the way HOBAC did last year is OK--as long as it doesn't last too long--but don't even think about closing up shop for good. If you ever decide to go into subscription mode, all you have to do is say the word and I'll be Subscriber Number One. Just stop with the funny stuff.
But thanks for the good news on two of my other favorite people whose voices were stilled for too long. There are never enough smart people to go around, and every one that goes quiet is a loss for all of us. Now, back to work. Tell us about L.A.

It is good every now and again to test the fates and the loyalties of those who love you. I, for one, simply couldn't imagine the blogosphere without you.
As for Dominique Browning's Slow Love Life, I was so overcome with emotion in discovering her, I have been literally frozen in place in trying to craft an appropriate post of my own. Thank you for alerting everyone else to her remarkable writings. All I've managed to do, thus far, is order the book and recommend that my local library stock it.
EA - I felt the same when I got Toad's email. Totally had the wind knocked out of me. He knew me well enough to know that I would NOT want to wait until I returned from LA to hear the news. I made the first pass on my miserable phone and was still delighted.
