It is always good fun to stop in to Pear Tree Designs & Antiques. It is so pretty there, when sometimes my life is not particularly pretty.
Mr. Blandings and I take a walk around the block with Rosie and the boys after dinner every night that the weather is good, and just last night, about mid-walk, the middle said, "I think I'm going to throw up."
You cannot imagine the kind of horrible conversation that followed, the other two adding their insights to this condition. I turned to Mr. Blandings and said, not for the first time, "Girls never talk about this stuff." Or my sister and I didn't anyway.
So I like to go into Pear Tree because it is pretty. And girly. And the women there talk with low voices about lovely things. Like Ann Marie Murray's beautiful hand painted porcelain. Dishes for rings, trays for perfume bottles, tiny boxes for baby teeth and locks of hair if your baby is lucky enough to have any. (None of mine was.)
Murray's pieces can be personalized and make lovely bridesmaids' gifts or baby gifts or birthday gifts. Or just a little treat for yourself when you begin to feel you are living in a fraternity. Pear Tree is having a trunk show of her pieces this Friday the 23rd. Maybe stop in and pick up a little something. Pretty is as pretty does.

And, Carol, I am so sorry my post contained a story about almost throwing up.
