Christmas Comes Early and Often


Once upon a time I got over my aversion to red and green together.  Meaning not hunter green and burgundy, of the 80s/90s greatest hits,  but the primary red and grassy green of this Albert Hadley Kips Bay Show House room.


And, like many flirtations that bloom into full-fledged infatuations, there was Spring and Jil Sander.  You can always woo me, seduce me, sway me with a full skirt and white top, but the smack of those red lips was irresistible.


Don't play to type and do overlook the text, but concentrate instead on that gleamy green and the dash of red at top and toe.


Walls cannot be the be all end all and we must start to flesh things out - to heat things up.


Miss Scarlet in the Dining Room with the Folly Green walls.  I do think it would make me Beeline Home.

    what about some wonderful blue opaline glass lamps. i love the blue and green together. maybe as much as you like red and green. still cant get over how gorgeous your dr is. i could look at those pix forever. what to see more!

    I see Gladys the Goose lamp in the first photograph - I still have the one given to me when I left England for Holland in 1980. As it was given to me at the airport as a surprise going-away gift I had to carry it onto the plane and was clapped down the aisle.

    P.S. your dining room is terrific. I know the amount of work involved and appreciate how much time it took - but also how much you looked forward to finishing it.

    Kristin - than you for your support. This particular anonymous comment is pretty tame in the world of anonymous commenters. Allowing it actually does help me get over myself which in the gushing world of blogs seems necessary sometimes. Oddly, I left a comment on a wry and snarky blog a week or so ago - using my name - in disagreement with the author and she didn't publish it. (Not Elaine at Decorno - she has balls and have given a flip what I think.) That's the worst of it, I think - wanting to bully but being unable to take a little heat. But bullies are always cowards.

    Also, I thought the text here was a little forced - though I really do love these lamps - so it was good timing I think.
