Fabric Obsession

A very good replacement for this perfect-in-every-way-but-discontinued Cowtan & Tout floral would be.....?

I would be incredibly grateful for any suggestions.

  7. Oh boy...that one is a classic..have you searched ebay and the usual suspects? I am sure you have tried Jane Shelton?

  8. I've been reading and enjoying your blog for a while, but I can't remember if I've ever commented. Questions like this are like a fun scavenger hunt for me. The closest I could find is at the link below. Not quite a replacement, more of a consolation prize I guess. Hopefully the blogger who pinned it has a source.

I did find a shower curtain on eBay that was very similar, but it's a shower curtain. Not much flexibility I don't think. If you want to look it's Hillcrest Almafi Fabric Curtain. Good luck!

  9. Take a look at the gorgeous prints from Michael Smith's Jasper line -- classic cabbage roses, lilacs. He used to have some beautiful ferns, but I don't see them on his site now... alas, maybe discontinued too.

  10. I used to find these fabulous fabrics in an Aunt's barn. She and her husband were in the upholstery business before they both passed away - too soon! I have a similar Cowtan & Tout folded up somewhere but it has a touch of pink. Never used, but well loved!

  11. "Bowood" by Colefax and Fowler? that was my immediate response and is certainly a classic- can't wait to see what you choose!
I love your writing and look forward to your every post- mostly because they always evoke a fellow feeling...
    Cheers!

  12. Mrs. B, is there any information at all stamped on the selvage? Would love to have the number or name of the pattern to feed into the search. Is that linen? it looks heavy, doesn't appear to be chintz. It's gorgeous.

    Mrs. B,

    Try Bennison Fabrics
(English, hand printed fabrics, in the 18th and 19th century designs). Fabulous.

    Patricia,
Have you considered Peter Dunham's fig leaf fabric? Also, check out Katie Ridder's fabrics and Thistle by Timorous Beasties.

  20. A nice alternative would be Bassett McNab's Wrentham 7619-777 at $144.00
per yard. Nice small family runned business out of PA. Call for a sample,267-508-0001.

  21. A perfect replacement for this beautiful faded print would be anything by Bennison.

  22. This is beautiful- but it is not Colefax's Bowood.I know, because I have the Bowwod.
The person to ask is Betsy Speert, a fabulous designer who is well known for her love of high end cabbage rose chintz. Betsy also has a blog now:

  23. Is the wicker black? I once saw black wicker with deep purple cushions with somewhat dark green piping. I think it was in House Beautiful. It was striking and dramatic and beautiful and different. It was used on a brick patio or more likely, an outdoor room.

  24. Cowtan & Tout's Longbourne (Veranda's Archive Project colorway) has a similar look and feel.

  25. Hi, you should look at Bob Collins and Sons in West Palm Beach. Very old school....gorgeous florals. I actually thought your picture was one of their fabrics. Good luck!

  26. Is it the same fabric Mariette Himes Gomez is using for her latest collection with Hickory Chair? We visited the showroom a couple of months ago and saw it then. I can't find it on their website, but I did find a photo of her bedroom on their facebook page.
