Please don't roll your eyes at the Hermes; this was 2003. Besides, that's not the point.
If, like Lussier, you want a copy of Diana Vreeland's Allure (a vintage one - there is a re-release in October), there was one at Half Price Books in Westport the last time I was there. 50 clams.

I have always admired teetering boxes and those that collect box tops! All those Hermes boxes are the tops!

Yep, totally over the Hermes boxes. 'Decorating' for the insecure.
ReplyDeleteHow can anyone other than the Olsen twins or European royalty have so many Hermes boxes?

P.S. I've become a serial commenter on your blog with these Lussier posts and will be disappointed when the series ends.
Like I said, six years ago on the boxes. And Deborah - hope to keep you engaged from here on out.
ReplyDeleteI was looking for a photo of just that Hermes shade orange--need to paint a wall in the shop. And you have met my need!! Thanks. Have a super week-end.

Goodness! I forgot I have Allure, and pulled it down off the shelf for a look. Great photographs! Thank you for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteOh...and orange is divine. Never dated as far as I am concerned. The boxes are an inspiration.
I am almost falling asleep......I haven't read who Lussier is......but I can tell you this! I have a lifetime of Hermes boxes.......in my dressing room.......(pics to follow if anyone is interested!) I have no idea how anyone throws away an Hermes box! They are almost as exquisitely made as an Hermes purse!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
And the color!
Wheesh!
What an eagle-eye you have to spy that slim red volume by the divine DV beneath all that orange! I cant believe there's a vintage "Allure" out there for $50! The best I've seen is around $200+, and I almost accidently bought one from Amazon for $1200! Alas, I shall have to make do with the re-release in October. (Am already on the waiting list!)
ReplyDeleteI don't know how Hermes boxes could go out of style unless you use them only for decorating purposes, then they become a fad. You have them? You keep them! Just the color speaks about style being so perfectly created.
ReplyDeletei dressed their windows
ReplyDeletein london.
the boxes are hand made and numbered
still.

um. just stopping by to say i keep visiting this post. it's diana, it's you, it's hermes, it's a fascinating creamsicle still-life (i used to adore creamsicles); but it isn't 2003 anymore, is it?
ReplyDeletei am happy to read beth's comment. not being an olsen twin, i'll never have probably more than one (two, if i am lucky) of these boxes. but they are something else, aren't they?
Just to let you know, Mr. Lussier is being inducted into the New England Design Hall of Fame on Thursday evening. There should be more information at www.nehomemagazine.com. I have the pleasure of introducing him and talking about his work.
