Gracing My Walls

After last week's post regarding the endless inspiration that Mr. Redd provides and the impossibility of Gracie gracing my walls, I started clicking around.

At the same time that I was finding Jennifer's post on the Peak of Chic, a few of you were commenting and emailing to say, "Do it yourself!  Stencil Library!"

And, that is exactly what I am going to do in my dining room.  There's hardly a Gracie paper that I don't like, but some of my favorites are those with this white silhouette.

So, yeah.  I'm going to do that.  First I just need to pick the background color, repair the funny thing on the ceiling and make sure the sconces are in the right place.  Oh, and order the stencils.

Really, I can't wait.

  2. It's going to be fantastic! I am doing a similar wall treatment in my bedroom but stenciled mesquite tree's in grey and green. SO excited as well!

    Keep up the great work!

  3. I have been planning on this for exactly, let's see...my son was 6 and he'll be 13 tomorrow!! Seriously. I ordered them for my dining room 2 houses ago! My latest plan was to at least make a go of it on some folding screens I have. I think of it almost every month. And you posted the two I own! It's a sign. Let's do it together. I plan to do mine more painted than stenciled; to use the stencil as sort of an outlined guide of a tree and fill in. That way it will feel more like the deGournay paper I've long lusted for. I know, it's questionable. That's why I've never quite summoned the courage.

  7. I am so glad you posted this. I have been fretting about my own very white, very undone dining room. This looks like a cost effective way to inject a bit of drama into the place. Will you keep it monochromatic or is it possible to vary the colors?

  8. If I lived in Kansas, I would be right beside you with a wet brush....and donning my painters apron. Good taste, love it.

The green /silver and white room
I designed for a showhouse specifically with the intention of having an average clientele to still have the Gracie panel look.
I have it in several color ways and it is stunning when finished.
    Good luck on your project!!
